Massage Therapy FAQs in Pittsfield, MA
Answers Before Your New Move Massage Session
Trying a new massage therapist can come with questions, especially when the approach combines therapeutic massage, movement, somatic awareness, and personalized bodywork.
At New Move Massage in Pittsfield, MA, I want you to feel informed, comfortable, and supported before your appointment begins. You do not need previous massage experience or an understanding of different bodywork techniques to schedule a session.
Below are answers to common questions about my services, pricing, approach, and what you can expect.
Frequently Asked Questions
What type of massage does New Move Massage offer?
I provide personalized therapeutic massage and bodywork based on your individual needs rather than following the same routine for every client.
Depending on your goals and the service you choose, your session may incorporate Thai Massage, myofascial techniques, somatic awareness, cranio-sacral techniques, breathwork, hot stones, cupping, guided exercises, movement, and intentional touch.
Not every technique is used during every appointment. I select the approach according to what you are experiencing and how your body responds.
How much does a massage cost?
New Move Method Bodywork is available in four appointment lengths:
30 minutes — $60
60 minutes — $110
75 minutes — $130
90 minutes — $160
The Move Free Shoulder & Neck Mobility and Recovery Series is $450 for four weeks. The 120-minute Foundations Somatic Signature Session is $245.
Continued Care costs $310 for three 60-minute sessions or $630 for six 60-minute sessions.
What is the 30-minute spot treatment?
The 30-minute New Move Method session is available to existing clients only and is designed for focused bodywork on one specific area rather than addressing the entire body in a shorter appointment.
If one area, such as your neck, shoulders, or back, needs extra attention, this may be a good option. New clients should book a 60-, 75-, or 90-minute session to allow enough time for a more complete assessment and comprehensive therapeutic bodywork.
What is somatic massage?
Somatic massage brings additional awareness to your internal experience of your body. This can include noticing sensation, breath, tension, movement, comfort, and how your body responds to touch.
My approach combines somatic awareness with personalized therapeutic bodywork when appropriate. The goal is not to force your body into change but to work with it while helping you develop greater awareness and connection.
Can massage help with chronic pain?
Clients may seek therapeutic massage when experiencing chronic pain, recurring muscular tension, stiffness, or restricted movement. Individual responses to massage vary, and I do not promise pain elimination or other specific medical outcomes.
Massage therapy does not replace appropriate medical evaluation or treatment. If you have severe, unexplained, or changing pain, seek appropriate medical guidance before scheduling bodywork.
What is the Move Free Shoulder, Neck & Back Mobility and Recovery Series?
Move Free is a focused program consisting of one session per week for four weeks and costs $450.
Depending on your starting point and individual response, goals may include improved neck rotation, easier behind-the-back reach, reduced pain levels, increased strength and stability, and better overall movement awareness.
These are goals rather than guaranteed outcomes.
Do I need experience with massage, somatic work, or movement?
No. I welcome clients at every experience level.
You do not need to know massage terminology or decide which techniques you want before your appointment. Tell me what you are experiencing, what concerns you have, and what you hope to get from the session. We can begin there.
Is New Move Massage an inclusive practice?
Yes. New Move Massage is a woman-owned, inclusive massage practice serving people of all identities and experience levels.
I want you to feel safe, supported, and heard. Your comfort, communication, preferences, and boundaries are important parts of your experience.
Do you offer massage packages or memberships?
