Myofascial Massage in Pittsfield, MA
Personalized Bodywork That Works With Your Body
Tension does not always feel like one isolated tight muscle. You may notice pulling across an area, stiffness when you move, recurring discomfort, or a sense that your body is compensating in ways you cannot quite explain.
At New Move Massage in Pittsfield, MA, I incorporate myofascial massage and techniques into personalized bodywork when they are appropriate for your needs.
My approach begins by listening. Before we start, I want to understand what you have been experiencing, how your body has been feeling and moving, and what you hope to gain from your session.
Rather than following the same routine for every client, I adapt the bodywork to you. Myofascial techniques may be used on their own or alongside other approaches to create a session centered on movement, awareness, comfort, and restoration.
What Is Myofascial Massage?
Fascia is connective tissue found throughout the body, surrounding and supporting muscles and other structures. Myofascial bodywork focuses attention on this interconnected tissue and how areas of tension or restriction may relate to the way your body feels and moves.
At New Move Massage, myofascial work is not about forcing your body into change.
I use intentional touch while paying attention to how your tissues and movement respond. The pace and approach can be adjusted throughout your appointment based on your comfort and what I notice during the work.
Depending on your individual needs, I may combine myofascial techniques with therapeutic massage, Thai Massage, somatic awareness, cranio-sacral techniques, breathwork, hot stones, cupping, guided exercises, movement, and intentional touch.
Not every technique is necessary for every session. The purpose is to choose what supports the experience we are creating together.
Why Consider Myofascial Bodywork?
You may become interested in myofascial massage because your body feels tense, restricted, or less comfortable during certain movements.
Some clients seek therapeutic bodywork when dealing with chronic pain, recurring muscular tension, stiffness, mobility concerns, or physical stress from everyday activities. Others want to better understand how different areas of their bodies may be working together.
Myofascial techniques can give us another way to explore those concerns.
Rather than viewing one uncomfortable area completely in isolation, I can consider your broader movement and body awareness as part of the session.
Individual experiences vary. I do not promise that myofascial massage will eliminate pain, correct a medical condition, or produce a particular physical outcome.
Working With Tension Instead of Fighting It
I believe meaningful bodywork comes from working with your body rather than against it.
More pressure does not automatically mean more effective care. Your comfort, responses, and boundaries help guide how I work.
During your appointment, you can tell me what you are noticing, ask questions, or let me know when something needs to change. That communication allows the session to remain collaborative.
My goal is to create space for your body to settle, soften, and explore movement without treating tension as something that simply needs to be forced away.
This philosophy is central to New Move Massage and influences how I incorporate myofascial techniques into broader therapeutic bodywork.
Myofascial Massage and Movement Awareness
How an area feels and how it moves can be connected.
That is why my approach does not necessarily stop with hands-on massage. When appropriate, movement, breath, somatic awareness, or guided exercises may help you notice how your body responds before, during, or after bodywork.
You do not need previous movement or body-awareness experience.
I can guide you through the process while keeping the focus on what feels relevant to your goals. The purpose is not to achieve perfect movement. It is to encourage curiosity about your body and give you more information about your own experience.
Is Myofascial Massage Right for You?
Myofascial work may be worth exploring if you experience persistent tension, stiffness, movement restrictions, or areas that seem connected rather than isolated.
It can also be incorporated into a broader therapeutic session when you simply want personalized bodywork that responds to what your body needs that day.
Because every person is different, I do not assume myofascial techniques are automatically the right choice for every concern.
We can begin with a conversation about what you are experiencing and determine how to shape your session from there.

FAQs
Frequently Asked Questions
Is myofascial massage the same as a traditional massage?
Myofascial work places specific attention on fascia and areas of tension or restriction. I may combine it with other therapeutic techniques depending on your needs.
Does myofascial massage require deep pressure?
Not necessarily. I adjust the approach according to your body, comfort, and response rather than assuming stronger pressure is always better.
Can myofascial massage be combined with other techniques?
Yes. When appropriate, I may integrate myofascial techniques with therapeutic massage, somatic awareness, Thai Massage, breathwork, movement, or other bodywork methods.
Can I book myofascial work for chronic pain?
Clients may seek bodywork for chronic pain or recurring tension, but results vary. Massage does not replace appropriate medical evaluation or treatment.
