Somatic Massage in Berkshire County, Massachusetts
Bodywork That Helps You Listen to Your Body
Your body communicates through sensation, movement, tension, breath, and the way you respond to everyday experiences. Sometimes those signals are obvious. Other times, you simply know that something feels restricted, uncomfortable, or disconnected.
At New Move Massage in Pittsfield, MA, I offer personalized somatic massage for clients throughout Berkshire County, Massachusetts, and within a 50-mile radius.
My approach creates space to notice what your body is communicating rather than immediately trying to force it to change. I combine therapeutic bodywork with somatic awareness, movement, and intentional touch based on your individual needs.
Whether you are experiencing chronic pain, recurring tension, changes in mobility, stress, or a desire to feel more connected to your body, somatic bodywork gives us an opportunity to slow down and pay attention.
What Is Somatic Massage?
Somatic massage considers more than the area where you feel tension.
The word “somatic” relates to your lived experience within your body. In my sessions, that means paying attention to how you experience sensation, breath, movement, tension, comfort, and connection while receiving bodywork.
Instead of treating you as a collection of muscles, I work with you as a whole person.
Depending on what is appropriate for your session, I may incorporate therapeutic massage, myofascial techniques, somatic awareness, cranio-sacral techniques, Thai Massage, breathwork, guided exercises, movement, and intentional touch.
Not every session requires every technique. I select and adapt the work according to your goals, comfort, and responses.
A Personalized Somatic Bodywork Experience
Feeling safe, supported, and heard is an important part of my approach.
Before hands-on work begins, I want to understand why you scheduled your session and what you have been experiencing. You do not need to know which technique you need or arrive with a detailed explanation.
You can start with what you notice.
Throughout the session, you are welcome to communicate preferences, ask questions, or share changes in sensation. Your boundaries and comfort remain part of the process.
I do not believe therapeutic bodywork needs to force muscles or movement into change. Instead, I create space for your body to soften, respond, and explore movement at its own pace.
Who May Consider Somatic Massage?
You do not need a specific condition to explore somatic massage.
You may be interested in this approach if you are experiencing chronic pain, recurring tension, restricted movement, stress, or changes in the way your body feels.
Somatic bodywork may also appeal to you if traditional massage has felt too routine and you want an experience that encourages greater participation and awareness.
Others choose it simply because they want restorative time to slow down and reconnect with themselves.
Every person's experience is different. I do not guarantee specific medical or physical outcomes, and massage therapy is not a replacement for appropriate medical evaluation or treatment.
